Frank Evans, aka DJ Pauze was born on December 27, 1978 in Brampton, Ontario, Canada. In the 80′s he saw his passion for music take off listening to underground hip hop legends such as NWA and Public Enemy. After a few years his interest started to shift when he discovered the sounds of retro groups such as Depeche Mode and New Order, The Cure and Duran Duran.

The 90′s saw Frank attending his first rave party at an underground parking garage near downtown Toronto. It was this day that he discovered his love for late night underground parties and decided to invest his time to become a dj.

Starting with 2 belt drive turntables and a 2-channel mixer, he began to practice in the basement of his home. Pauze would frequently visit local record shops on a weekly basis to develop his arsenal of records. Hours were spent sifting through piles of vinyl to find hidden gems and collectibles that would help him orchestrate the mood he wanted to convey in his sets.

After years of practice Pauze landed a weekly residency at the legendary club The Basement in Toronto, which helped shape, his style of music as well as develop his skilled technique. Playing weekly also gave him the opportunity to play various raves across the city, which helped him gain fame quickly.

In 2002, Pauze decided to make a move to Brazil where he found a new scene and new like-minded friends. Over the course of 2 years he was able to play many large raves/clubs including the famous 2002 world cup party where Brazil became the FIFA champs.

After a long tour in Brazil, Pauze returned home to Canada where he founded Hardsignal Recordings, a prominent hard techno label from 2004 to 2010. He released several tracks on his imprint, which led to other productions on labels such as Hydraulix and Fine Audio Recordings.

After his return to Canada, he noticed the music scene was changing. Pauze decided to shift his style of music to a slower bpm and incorporate different styles of music to his sets. He currently plays a hybrid of Techno, Tech-House and Minimal and at the odd party he will throw down one of his classic harder techno sets.

His mindset is now focused on production with releases on Datagroove, Soulman Music, Minimo Records and has scheduled releases on several big imprints for this year. Pauze is working vigorously to promote his sets and productions so that he can spread his love for underground music across the globe.
